| The Lead-Based Paint Risk Assessment Model Curriculum is designed to prepare individuals who have already completed EPA's Lead-Based Paint Inspector course or an equivalent for certification as lead paint risk assessors. To date, approximately 28 states have lead inspector programs, 19 of which also have risk assessor programs. |

| Persons seeking initial lead risk assessment training must be aware that it generally consists of 40 hours of training that includes 24 training hours covering the initial lead inspection course. Trainers typically offer lead risk assessment courses as a 2-day add-on course immediately following a 3-day initial lead inspector course. Course schedules for lead risk assessment courses are displayed using the dates for the 2-day add-on and not the entire 5 days that is required for persons who have not taken and passed the 3-day initial inspector course. |
